Pania Field Weekend #10

Great sea conditions and some good catches. And definitely well done to Sue for that massive beast she hauled in. It was bigger than her.... Amazing.

I have an inquisitive question. The fish caught by Sue Lawson is simply magnificent. To put this in context, most people would fish for an entire lifetime and not land a fish half that size from the shore.

Looking at the points awarded for the day, I note Kane W was awarded some 340 more points that Sue, his catch must have been absolutely stupendous!!!

May I ask the details of what Kane brought to the scales? His catch must be well worth a short write up and an honourable mention in despatches.

Hangler, it was a mates field weekend. We were allowed to take a non pania member fishing for the weekend and the points for the fish they caught and weighed were added to the members tally. Also Sues shark wasn't eligible for any points...

One of the additions I made to our Field weekends was introduce a "Take a Mate" weekend. The idea is to give non members a look at what the club is all about and hopefully gain some new members. The reward for turning up with a Mate is that his bag of fish is added to yours and the points won also. ie Kanes points are reflective of two fishermen. I make this point that everyone has the opportunity to take someone with them, if you choose not to that is out of my control. Sorry Andy but you are incorrect in assuming Sue's shark was invalid. In fact it was worth 375 points.

Hey Andy G. Very interested in this take a mate weekend if it ever happens again. I have always wanted to get a little more info on the club and how it works. Have been keen to join up but put off as I dont get enough time to fish.

Outstanding catch by Sue what an effort for her. An hour and a half battle with the beast no wonder she was complaining of a sore back. She also caught a few nice carrots swell. Sues a much loved Character of the Pania Surfcasting Club we all have plenty of time for her( especially when she brings her baking to the club meetings

). Me and my mate weighed our bag limit each of 5 Kahawai, 4 Red cods, 3 Spotted Smoothound, @2 congers 1 of which was 7.5kg

, a gurnard and a Blue moki of 2.9kg at Awatoto!!!. That was all overnight on Saturday from the ask mouth and Awatoto, due to being tied up at work saturday and sunday. Go the Local beaches HAHAHA

Awesome weekend and well done to the Pania club.I for one will be joining the club to experience this over and over again...? Thanks to club member Simon Te Whaiti and his fellow clubbies for showing me a good time and helping me to catch plenty of fish and allowing me to use their equipment....awesome
To guys like Hangler ...why not turn up to the to the weigh in's and find out first hand what's actually going on instead of shooting everyone down....I don't think I have read one post of yours that doesn't stir.
Once again Pania Surf Casting Club thank you and you should hold more of these mates weekends.

I suggest you read the Tested Tackle thread, it is full of help for newcomers. I started it and have been senior contributor, this to help people like you.
