He has increased commercial catch limits on other species note he has included kingfish in this and they are one of the lowest bag limits we have, totally outrageous
After going through the fire of the snapper quota reduction, Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy has announced increases in catch limits for eight other, mostly commercial, fish species. Mr Guy cut the daily snapper recreational fishing quota in North Island fisheries from nine to seven a week ago, causing an outcry because he didn't reduce the commercial catch limit. On Tuesday he announced increases in the total catch limits for hoki, ling, orange roughy, scampi, kingfish, leatherjacket, oyster and sea perch in some fisheries. "Most of the fisheries are deep water and utilised mainly by commercial fishers," he said. "However, there have been a number of small increases to some recreational allowances as well." Mr Guy said he had been able to increase the catch limits because stock levels were healthy. "The aim of my decisions with these fish stocks mirrors my recent announcement regarding the Snapper One fishery," he said. "We need to ensure we have healthy, sustainable stocks that will provide for our children and our grandchildren."
That is what I would like to know too Gary but obviously they are still thinking on what changes to make that will just piss us off even more, but for now here is MPI chewing on a few more ideas of what else to bugger up while they are at it.
