fished te horo beach 100 mtrs south of otaki river mouth yesterday only one bite on whole pilchard ripped 250 meters of line off reel played for 35 mins till hook pulled out first run was over 100 meters. I persume it was a large shark dont think it even knew it was hooked damn

Possibly a large eagleray that didn't jump and kept on the move.

Rays have just come inshore here , had 2 the other night.1st spat the bait but landed 2nd about 40lb & returned it.Bit annoying but give you a good scrap,good practice for things like kings etc.
