Some personal results trickling in. Seems James B and son Ethan found the snapper and limited with fish over 50cms. Others fishing Tirohanga and Omaio nailed the kahawai and a few snapper. Could be a very interesting weigh in.
The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

It wasn't a secret Gary, there were a lot of people too busy fishing themselves silly. Tons of snapper and kahawai around Hawai and some around Matata etc too, but often they were very small ones. I was spewing when I turned my camera on to take pics of the magnificent Hawai boil ups and found the batteries were flat. Still it was an interesting event overall. Well done the organisers

Hopefully someone will post results for all to see. I am interested in where the fish were caught and if many bothered travelling around th north Island or not. Sounds like the BOP was the go and plenty of fish close to HQ.The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

From what I heard most did BOP up to Te Kaha. I know James and Chad went to the far north for big snapper, trevs etc. I'm not sure if others ventured elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure most did BOP. Someone else might be able to comment on that. A lot ended up on Hawai Beach which I had virtually to myself on Thursday and a lot did Matata, Pikowai, Walkers, Thornton the mast. Tirohonga, Maraenui were also popular. I weighed in early as I was a bit clueless about how things were done and also totally shattered after having only about 2hrs sleep in the last hectic 24hrs. For me personally I found the snapper over 35 hard to come by, but I did manage 3 and lost a couple too. All my fish including 3 very respectable kahawa were taken at Hawai and Omaio beaches. After two desperate hours dozing in the truck a mad fish from 2 til 7am in the morning at a spot I like in Pikowai rendered nothing which was a huge disapointment. Still thats fishing and I still weighed a few in. Always a great place to fish BOP. Wish I could get there more often.
