Unusual Capture

Just recently returned from an excellent trip away up the far north. Have a new pb and a first from the shore and it wasn't a fish!. Thought i was seeing things as i lead it close into the shallows, after a spirited bender, line pull then it surfacing or parts of it. Two flippers a neck a head and beak F%#K ME a TURTLE!

, on a piece of craytail on a 4/0 gamy circle. Before i could get the camera the bugger slipped the hook and departed down the channel into the depths. Thats what keeps you going back for more, the experiences, the sights you see, the places you go, and the wonderful people you meet. This trip was no exception, and it was almost a struggle to catch something other than a Snapper. Chris i recommend you visit the far north for some therapy. Caught several large 4 and 5kg Trevally swell as some rat Kings, fished a couple of new spots, and some secret old ones also

. Left again feeling I've still only scratched the surface, but learnt a lot too, and will be better armed next visit.

Sounds awesome - never been up there myself. Maybe next summer if I can save enough $.
It would be awesome to fish somewhere that actually has fish

Mate not wanting to muscle in on your favourite possies!! But me and fishing mate (wife) are heading up north for 10 days next week. Any pointers, suggestions on where to fish would be awesome!! I'm a northland virgin!!

Give me a phone 068359016 daytime ask for Kane ill give you some up to date info. Everyday is different there, what fish were there feeding in a particular spot/tide may be more or less. Options are endless. I don't own a 4wd vehicle so am a wee bit restricted in some spots, but there are more than enough public access spots available that at times produce as good a fishing as anywhere else on the northland coasts. Drop in and see Frosty at the Kauri Arms Tavern in Kaitaia and hell help you out aswell.

Frosty you going to do some swinging

Take him to east beach for some easy fishing. Don't bother using two rods either the buggers were hooked up before you could make the rod stand , too busy for a 2nd rod. Wish we had that problem more often down here.

Yea mate night fishing is no problem!! We leavin Rotorua end of next week traveling up west coast and down east so will be in touch when we get closer if thats allgood, again thanks heaps and see you soon!

Watch out frosty will turn up for the Snapper 1000 and will want to stay with you, eat all your food, drink your booze and take over your top snapper spot. Guess thats OK we are all very generous anglers. It works both ways.
