Couple of nice snaps

These two were landed last night on the Kapiti coast. 1st one came off a short 400m longline set, 18.7 lb. The bump-head came in off a surfcaster an hour later, 17 lb. Congrats to Riki - his biggest snapper to date.

Couple of nice snapper there . Seen a guy loose a fish like that a couple a weeks ago.Hauled it in on his kontiki ,got excited and clipped the trace off then lifted the fish & the hook pulled out by the weight of the snapper.Maybe only lip hooked & tore the hook out.Plop ,flicked its tail ,cya later.16lb + snapper lost in the shore wash. The guy was gutted ,what can you say?
Note: Drag them up onto dry sand don't try to lift a good fish the weight can tare the hook out.
