Impressive gutter

I saw the biggest gutter I've ever seen today in Hawkes Bay. You could launch a boat into this one and troll it! But seriously this is one hell of a food highway. It goes for kilometres like a emerald river between the whitewash

Might have been a few fish in there. Did you go down? Remember how rough it was the day we went there and the fish were biting.

I do remember that day. I loved it. Catching fish non stop then I hook up on all mutha of a stingray that we never saw after an hour( was it?) of fighting

I've tried to fish their in conditions like that but the side drift can be huge, so much that a 6oz bos wont hold.

I have had some good fishing in the rough at Ocean Beach. It depends a lot on the formation of the beach at the time. When Campbell and I fished a rough day out there we nailed some 1 kg + Gurnard and kahawai over 2.5kgs.
Another rough day with James Parahi saw the lemonfish really on the bite. WE caught several including my biggest ever at 16.5kgs.
It is beautiful when its calm but worth a look when its rough. The water is always clean and that alone means that fish will come in.
