Re reading the Casting for fun thread I gather that any casting days organised by the NZACA or any clubs that are casting in NZACA rules for records or trophies (Postal Casting) will need to either have Jock present on behalf of the NZACA and a landowner that is covered too. Thats not such a problem when using race tracks and footy fields I guess as they will have insurance. Clubs will need to check that out when booking. It sounds like this may be a factor that will stop clubs holding casting days however as it all starts to look too hard. I know my club has had trouble booking our usual venue. I dont know why though. AS our over ruling body maybe the NZACA needs to do a serious enquiry on this matter and report back to clubs before someone really gets in the poo with an accident on an uninsured casting court. If we know what to do and how to do it maybe we can get on and go casting again.
Unfortunately I cannot attend the first NZACA event at the end of August but hope to get to one soon after that. The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

Good points Gary maybe this subject was discussed at the executive meeting on Saturday. Maybe Yoey can fill us in as Jock will not post on this board. It's not that he is not welcome because he is along with anyone else as long as they adhere to the rules.

As many people have found out in the recent past , insurance can be a comfort thing and also a moving goal post. A robust management plan and worst case plan could be used. Insurance doesn't cover stupidity.

For Gary and Co. To clarify the position of the Executive of the NZACA. It is our advice to any Club holding a Casting Competition of any sort that they have a "Public Liability Insurance". It was a requirement of the BOP Regional Council for us to use the park for our 2014 National Comp. in Papamoa. You will find it will be a requirement of most Councils now if you wish to use their Parks. As your Governing body Gary, we cannot enforce it but we will not be responsible for any accidents or claims made against a Club that decides not to cover themselves. The Association holds a Public Liability Cover in Jock Bielskis name and all Casting events he is in attendance are covered. This information has been detailed previously and to your Club. Your Parent body is looking very hard for options of casting venues of acceptable quality. Plenty that could handle 180m without bustoffs. As for the local venue for Pania, the Polo grounds. They are owned and managed by the Hastings Rugby & Sports Club and they cannot gaurantee public will not use it during our casting.
