The area has been slow on the snapper front. Most of the same, the occasional snapper everywhere and no where really consistent. Numbers of 1 or 2 snapper up to 45cm and nothing really better.
Mahunga has been the pick of the beach. The past friday I caught several snapper and a decent gurnard, although kahawai numbers are well down on this beach at the moment. Low tide is the go when its dark, if its high tide, pack up and fark off! There are also quite a few lemons and trevs around.
Snapper rock has been crystal clear. The kingfish in the bay at the moment are well up on last year and previous year. 1000s of juvenile kingfish and plenty of good ones to. A good place to be if a kingfish is on your menu. A number of moki have been caught also, seems to be a year for the moki this year compared with other years.
Waikok has been worth a look too. If its clean its got kings and when shes dusty it has the odd solid snapper mid afternoon.
Mohaka= dead as bro for the most part.
Waihua, worth a look for moki, 1000s of mussels have washed up.......... even a snapper could be on the cards.
Good luck all venturing out

Missed you ar the station Saturday, no one would answr the phone. Went on to Mahanga for a few kahawai then Blacks for nothing then it Peaed down so we headed home. Nice to get on Mahanga again after a bit of a break, The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
