Mitchell 387 reel

Hi have just found my late farthers Mitchell 387 reel, have given it a good clean inside , relubed and reloaded with 9 kg nylon, my problem now is that the spool is loading at the top of the spool with little at the base of the spool. Large Taper on spool.

Any thoughts on the cause of this.

Try adding one or two washers under the spool on the main shaft and reload.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

If you can't pack washers under the spool then you can hand load the spool with nylon, filling the base with more nylon before winding on the balance. That should result in an equally loaded spool.
