The newly formed Papamoa Beach Surfcasting Club became one month old on the 1st October and celebrated the occasion by the signing up of the 40th member.
The Club is initially focused on tuition as a good number of the members have little or no experience in surfcasting however, it is already very pleasing to see the enthusiasm that these new “fisho’s” have. A lot of effort over recent weeks has been put into developing casting skills and this is being followed up by “Tips n’ Tricks” classes to cover all the other aspects of surfcasting from the purchase of equipment through to the various types of terminal tackle, knots, baiting etc etc.
With the new fishing season getting under way, many of the new members are already looking forward to catching a Snapper or three.
Hopefully in coming months we can bring forum readers news of some good catches.
Good luck with it! Very satisfying to see new surfcasters catching their first snapper. The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
