Winter chances

There is a lot of evidence that snapper and particularly big ones can show up any time from now on on Hawkes Bay beaches. They will show first on the northern beaches of Whakaki Waihua and Mohaka and then further south to Napier beaches in October. Catches wont come easy and dedication is required. You need to be there to get them so get organised and get out.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

You certainly have a challenge with the wall of nets and long lines. Good luck to HB anglers chasing a 20 this season.

Conditions permitting I'll settle for a good west coast fish.

Record was caught in July but that was before the fishery collapsed in HB and motorised long lines.
For me its going to be a BOP 10pounder or a west coast fish after a good walk.
