Just glanced down the back yard. The cherry tree is getting it's blossoms at last. I reckon next weekend and it'll be swimming in white. The neighbour's plum tree is totally covered in green, very beautiful, but no blossoms yet. Can't be far off. Time to finally get excited I reckon.
I also took a look at Wave Buoy this morning and noticed yet another temperature spike. The other day I noticed a bump in temps too. Both these spikes were within the magic time for BoP moochers.
Wind/rain currently is coming from the East so don't expect to be hauling in many fish til it goes Westerly/Northerly and the rivers drop. There's always stupid little Ky to catch but nothing rings my bell louder than a big redtail.
So, with the temps, blossoms, wind direction, moon phase and tides all due to slot together very soon we can expect a marked increase in fishing opportunities and catch rate.
If ya can't wait a little longer then hit the west coast and take advantage of the easterlies and rain. ***********************************************************************************

I just finished spending 3 months in Tauranga doing some work earlier this week while on rain off I went for a looksee at papamoa beach and with what I saw going on I kicked myself hard for not packing my surfcaster, there were birds dive bombing left right and center just behind the back breakers (casting distance). I will be hitting papamoa again this year every opportunity i get starting with labour weekend.
That's right but unless we can delay Daylight Saving weekend for a fortnight it'll always be a lottery. Catch numbers were well down on previous seasons. ***********************************************************************************

One weighed in last weekend Geno. So sleek and shiny, a subtle reserved shade of red and perfect camo belly colour for the mud it hides in. It was a thing of beauty. The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
My cherry tree has just exploded into blossom!! Oh yeah, BoP snapper season is now ofishally open. Mother Nature has spoken. Don't be frightened to come up for a poach HBers... you've done it hard long enough. Salvation is at hand. Pinkies for everyone (except bastards with longlines) ***********************************************************************************
