See Gary I am back into Surf Casting. A nice Rig,aka Smooth Hound, from Nine Mile Beach Westport.
The conditions were similar to those at Papamoa for "The World Kahawai Fishing Competition" a few years back. And as you can see from the pic. I don't look a very happy camper. It was nice to catch a fish again. May there be many more. And not a Fishing Drone in sight lol. Don't need it where I was, which I might add is an excellent place for Rig and Grey Boys. Me mate Hayden Fergusson. Also hooked up with one the same size, but lost it in the shore wash. Buggar. I had a fly on. Lost a couple of small Kahawai which decided to eat the fly, but bugga they fell of too. And I had just retied on brand new small hooks, size 6. Still it was a great to get out again. The sea down here has been as rough as all spring more or less. This place loves a northerly wind, it flattens the sea out by the rocky headland. 75 metres down the beach about 20 surfies were enjoying 3 metre waves. Perfect surfing conditions. I was fishing a lake.
Ron Prestage(Of the Fishing Paper) from Nelson knows this place well. Occasionally he comes down and hijacks a few of my rig and big Kahawai. Eh Ron.

Hi All
See I am up there with the Elite. In the last 20 or 25 posts, on here, only me and Mattman have had a bit of a skite. Are we the only ones catching fish, or a fish.
