ABU 9000 side-plates

I have in my possession an ABU Ambassadeur 9000 reel (Red). It was manufactured April 1966 and mechanically is still in top notch condition. The only problem I have with it is some corrosion in the side-plates. I have managed to buy a new RH Side-plate and would like to find a LH side-plate so that I can restore the reel. If anyone can help me find a LH side-plate for this reel I would be very grateful. The reel is no longer used but has sentimental value as I inherited it when my dad passed away.

There is a lh 9000c on ebay at the moment but I would talk to blakdog tackle see if he can help.

Thanks for that but the 9000C is a later model with black side plates, mine is earlier with red side plates but I will definitely get in touch with Blakdog tackle.

Have received an e-mail from Russ, he has looked around the sites he knows without any luck. I probably do not have much chance of finding one.

Disappointing. Perhaps visit World Sea fishing site and put a question there for the part in the reel repairs section?

Hi, try Paul Thomas @ Sports Service Centre Kaiapoi CHCH, ph 033130064 he was able to help with red l/h ABU 9000 s/plate for a rebuild I did, I'm sure he has some more. Cheers Jeff
