Gamakatsu, Trokar, BKK hooks

Hi all, For some time I have been using Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks and found them to be a very good hook. Lately I have been looking at Trokar and BKK hooks. I would like to hear what others think of these three brands and which brand and type is regarded as the best. With fishing here in the BOP being very tough, I want to be using the best hook for surfcasting our beaches.

I'm about to try thr BKK hooks myself once I pick up some later this week, hopefully on the way back from eastern BOP next weekend.

Picked up a selection of BKK Circles yesterday or as its spelt on the packet "circies". They are a heavier wire than Owners and a size down ie BKK 4/0 is a 3/o in other brands.
The BKK Lumos are interesting, all seem very sharp could be really good for strip and octipus baits but too heavy for Anchovies.

I have just ordered more Gamakatsu, they have served me well for some years and the Trokar ones I am currently experimenting with don't appear to be worth the extra cost for no noticeable improvement. I haven't tried BKK hooks but would be interested in what others think of them.

Im wed to Gamakatsu but admit never trying the others. Just no reason. I only wish we could get some Gamakatsu blue hooks again as they seemed very lucky Lol.

Used the BKK hooks along side the Gamakatsu circles in the same venue and rigs for the last three trips and the BKKs have held their points better and show no signs of wear, not so for the Gamakatsu's. Where the BKK is perhaps disadvantaged is the heavier gauge wire and using on softer baits.Testing and comparisons continue....

Removing BKK hooks from the jaws of an Eagle ray with Ross pliers they kept their shape, the same cannot be said of Gammies! Bent out of shape and then snapped.

Another thumbs up for the BKK circles today. Landed a PB Eagle ray in a west coast estuary larger than the bonnet of my Rav4 estimate 45kg plus sorry no photos as I didnt want it out of the water and no one else there to get a pic of me with him. But NZ now as an Area 51 with the size of that "saucer" that came out of it today
