Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year for 2018. I hope the fishing is good for you wherever you wet a bait.
Cheers from Papamoa Beach

And a very merry Christmas to you too mate. Then, a happy new year. Was down the beach today and there was a mass of weed on the beach, about 50m long. Clear for miles eithe side, why does this happen?

Combination of natural and man made causes. Onshore northerly winds pushing off shore reef weed inshore combined with councils flushing weed out of estuaries (at times badly as happened in the Clive river) which then spreads onto beaches. It should be extracted from the waterway completely but they take the cheapest option. Its interesting that at a local lake care group I belong to an environmentally nontoxic weed killer was referred to and should be used on a wider scale to killoff weed in waterways which is normally caused due to artifically high nitrogen runoff from dairy conversions.
Happy yuletide season to all yous fishos guys & gals May your bait entice some good ones and your knots never fail Good luck everyone from Pete & YvonneMen and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.
