This place I've been working for went out of business today. I've been working for two companies but this is the company that I came here for. It's surprising. There was no notice. Just got a text today saying to phone the guy who owns the company today. So I called and he said that he's going out of business. I told him I was sorry to hear that and he's talking about how his father owned the business and whatnot. I never actually met this guy but it's an old man. So he's at retirement age anyway.

So this other company should take over whatever work there is. And I guess whatever employees that this guy had. So theoretically, the workload should remain the same but it may not. And it's better to have two companies than one. Now I can't work one off against the other.

I planned on leaving after six months anyway. Go to the US, I guess. But I think I'll have to move this date up.

Have to think about what to do. Maybe see this international deposition work. How regular it is, how much it pays, if I can do it. Of course, I can also do just a regular job. I see these admin jobs, though. £15,000/year for 40 hours a week. Doesn't appeal.

Hmm. I wouldn't have come to Scotland had I known the state of the industry. I guess it wasn't a total waste of time, though. Something to put on the CV. Became more confident with the job. Never had to read back before I came here and I can sort of do it. Sometimes. Got to see Scotland. And it was nice just to get out of London. Take it as a holiday if nothing else.
