On the Friday, my Dad was sentenced to 4 years in prison for sexually abusing one of my nieces. I wasn't there, but apparently the sentence was so light - and he could be out in 9 months - because he had previous 'good character'.


Now, i'm not an expert, but I think if you're diddling your own 5 year old Granddaughter, then 'good character' is moot.

Please do not get me wrong: I am not one of these right wing 'paedo hunters' (who hide their own murderous racism behind a concern for white children).

But 'good character' as a mitigation? It means you just have to be nice in your interpersonal reactions, and you can then f*ck kids and get off lightly.
