I remember this one. Actually, I remembered all of the episodes so far. I thought that they were all later episodes but no. These are early episodes done to establish who the characters are.
This one was about Karen. She does a lot of hippie shit. Meets some sort of hippie guru named Louis. Kevin doesn't like Louis because it's revealed that Louis enjoys hippie free love, potentially in his brightly-coloured hippie Volkswagon van.
Towards the end, Louis gets into an argument with Jack about Vietnam. In the final scene, Karen breaks up with Louis when she finds out that he's having hippie sex with other women.
A couple of things to note. Karen is awful. But also, there were comedy dream sequences in these early episodes. There was one in this episode and at least one in the previous episodes. It's really jarring and I don't think it's something that they continued as the series went on.
Also, in episode 2, there were several voiceovers of child Kevin Arnold which was also weird and didn't seem to fit with the show. It was played up for laughs, similar to the dream sequences, and doesn't seem right for the show. I mean, they have an adult voiceover and the whole gimmick of the show is that this guy is narrating events from his childhood. So is he also narrating things that he thought as a child?
This was the second to last episode written by Jews Carol Black and Neal Marlens. So maybe these weird things will come to an end soon.
What's the next episode? Oh, it's a painful one. The one where Kevin tries to make a phone call for 22 minutes. I barely remember this one. I must have blocked it out of my mind.
