I operate a modern workshop employing 10 staff, I can't believe that this practice is going on in any workshop, I am aware that my staff do "homers" which I am unable to do anything about, as "it's only for a relation or it's my best friend". I certainly would never ever allow any member of staff to run their own business from my premises, as this would obviously be a conflict of interest, I would indeed take disciplinary action against an staff member who used his/her position in my company to gain work personally through meeting "my" customers. In employment legislation there is implied terms of employment, one of which (I don't know the technical wording, but my understanding is)is that the interest of the company must be withheld all all times. There is of course the insurance implications involved in workshop practices, can you imagine if one of you staff were seriously injured in you own workshop, repairing a car with your consent !!!!! I don't mean to cause an offence with this message it is purely my thought. Graham
