To comply with VOSA we had to apply for change of use from body repair to mechanical repair from council, we would have had to do this anyway.
The council was a nightmare to deal with, but thats another story.
For VOSA i had to get certificates for everything, with the MOT ramp as their was no cert,i had to have its lifting capacity checked, this was done by loading a truck up to 3 tonns, getting confirmed by weightbridge, putting on MOT ramp while a certified lift fitter was present to see it being used, then issuing certificate, this had to be done with all MOT equipment.VOSA did not need to see it done just wanted certificates.
They also wanted proof of ownership/insurance.
Luckily i attended a AE course the previous year in preparation.
I even had to get an instruction manual for beam tester
I must say that our local VOSA agent gave us a great deal of help and advice and the whole process, although a pain took less than 4 weeks.
Dont give up its worth it in the end.
Regards
