The answer is.. it depends. Some people will always seek to take advantage.Most of the time you can be honest and open with customers,especially regulars, and they will give you their business. Tom W
I tend to be gun-shy of strangers that 'phone expecting a diagnosis of specific electrical or driveability problems. These will always get the 'book it in and we'll look at it' approach.
Adopting a main dealer attitude if you are a small independent repairer is not going to win you many new customers.
