If you have a busy workshop, happy customers & you maintain sensible standards of quality control & fair-trading then you are achieving your objectives. Is it the case that you are looking at a "bigger picture" & trying to raise the game of the motor trade in general? If this is the case then, my opinion is that you are wasting time & money in trying to change the way the world works. Is this a British thing or what? Health & safety, Environmental regulations Trading standards etc... are all in place to deal with these concerns, although they do it inconsistently, often targeting genuine well intentioned outfits & missing the back street sharks. These governing bodies are regulation enough in my opinion. Even if we have a situation were mechanics are not allowed to practice because of no formal training, there will still be just as many unprofessional motor repairs carried out & possibly more so due to the increased costs imposed on the approved outfits. Britain is steadily pricing itself out of the world market with our attitude to over regulation & we all know how expensive things are already. Looking at other industries... Currently we are only allowed to carry out only minor electrical work in our own properties. Has this stopped any of you guys replacing light fittings & running a spur plug socket in the kitchen? Rules for rules sake I think! Cheers
