We are part of the Cheshire Trading Standards Approved Workshop Scheme which also covers car sales. As with the other schemes, you have to be audited to get in and then checked every year along with a mystery shop. On the whole, the ones that pay the £400 fee, are the garages that take the business seriously and see the positive advantage of being approved by the local trading standards. It provides an edge over the local competition. The only downside, TS would like to see more garages in the scheme and are looking at reducing the annual fee, which we are against as like I say its well worth the money spent at the moment. We would like to see more promotion of the scheme, but they get very little funding from the council and have to make do with the subscription fees and any discounts/tie ins they can get.
