Re: Educational divide?

When I was on my C&G course many moons ago, we had a general studies lesson. The lesson content for one week was to write an essay. The lecturer at the end of the lesson read my essay and then said to me, 'you've got an 'O' level in English' to which I replied that I had. His reaction was,'What ever do you want to be a mechanic for'. It seems that similar to the building trade we were considered to be at the bottom of the pile when it came to educational qualifications. I wonder if the same rings true today. Mark M
