Yes the Independent Garage forum has been taken down for a few reasons

The forum was becoming high maintenance. As members come and go, we have to check that all the garages listed are still members, we removed some, then they would re-join at a later date and ask for details to be put back in.

The main reason is that the listing is UKAT recommended, but UKAT cannot confirm the business status or credibility of any garages listed. UKAT does not want to get drawn into any disputes with the general public over any issues that may arise from a garage repair by a UKAT recommended member

Other companies such as the Good Garage Scheme, Unipart etc are able to carryout periodic checks on their members and arbitrate in any disputes, UKAT cannot....

UKAT will just stick to what it does best
