Apparently the recent bank bailouts amount to each one of us now owing in the region of £10k. Would it not have been better to give us all the money instead, we would have either saved it (boosting the bank's balance sheet) or spent it at the sharp end of the economy (which would also have found it's way back to the bank, helping businesses on the way)
