To Do the recall did not require any security codes and the job needed doing as a safety aspect and servicing had absolutely nothing to do with whether it should have been done or not.
The Customer takes the car away in disgust and carries on driving the vehicle, But due to the recall not being carried out, The Vehicle then bursts into flames, He called Them and they are supposedly looking into it. Another of their Branches insists that the RECALL should have been done under any circumstances as it was a “SAFTETY RECALL”.
To Be Fair, He Was advised by the Manufacturer to take it back to the Dealer for them to do the recall and see what had caused the problem, and Possibly do the Repairs F.O.C. if they could prove that the fire was caused by the recall issue.
I Rang Customer services as i was as frustrated about the job as the customer was, but after hanging on the phone waiting for an available operator for several minutes, i got fed up and thought, why should i bother, it isn't my problem and the customer wasn't happy about taking it back to the Dealer anyway.
We did the work as he does not trust the Dealer to do the repairs without blaming the fault onto some other factor and giving him a massive bill.
Why are we now in this position where all the dealers want to do is to take £1000’s off people for unnecessary work, ? there are plenty of genuine faults And work required on these vehicles to keep everyone busy. ?
If This is the Quality of motor codes registered garages then I do not want to be assosciated with it in any way shape or form.
Tony.
