The 24 technicians scored top marks in an online test devised by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), which included a mixture of multiple-choice and open questions covering many aspects of advanced vehicle repair and diagnostics. The technicians now face practical assessments at the semi finals in Warwick this week.

The six top performers from the semi finals will be invited to the finals on March 4th at the Honda Institute in Slough.
The technician crowned Top Technician 2011 will be announced at an awards ceremony at Workshop 2011 on April 13th at the NEC Birmingham and will be rewarded with £2,500 in cash plus thousands of pounds’ worth of prizes.
Top Technician 2011 is sponsored by Autologic, Blue Print, Comma, Delphi, Euro Car Parts and Lemforder. The competition’s technical partner is Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) and the official supplier of work wear to Top Technician 2011 is Dickies.
