The courtesy cars also carry an advert for the dealership offering good deals on new cars (which makes it a bit cheaper) they are also available to breakdown patrols 24 hrs a day (to prevent recoveries and bring in more customers).
He looked into the paperwork side of things with his insurance company and found a workable solution (over 21 only).
Customers love the new cars and tend to have more respect for them than his old bangers (he has a couple of older motors with tow bars just in case).
In my opinion this is the only advantage some dealers have over independents besides warranty restrictions.
