We both successfully completed the run in one piece. The weather wasn’t too bad......temperature was just about right and it started with what was a nice cool drizzle, but after 13.1 miles of the rain we’d had enough of it! I found it quite tough this year which I think was down to the lack of long runs in the last 6 weeks due to picking up a hamstring injury....in the end it wasn’t my hamstring that caused me issues but the other muscles in my legs. But I managed to get over the line in just over 1hr 41mins which all things considered I was very pleased with. Louise also suffered from a lack of training but still managed a respectable 2hr 5mins. She achieved her goal to get over the finishing line to watch the Red Arrows do their great display over the coast at the South Shields.
Our legs are sore and aching today, but it was all worth it. Again we were amazed not only by the fantastic support from the crowds cheering everyone along but all the runners who were all hoping to raise lots of money for so many charities......a very humbling experience. On our trip back to the B&B which involved over an hour wait in the cold & wet for the ferry across the Tyne, we were trudging back the last 100 metres through Tynemouth to our B&B when a number of people stopped and congratulated us on our achievement which has never happened before so we were really made up again.
Anyway had a great weekend as usual and to top it all off we’ve raised over £500 for The Christie hospital and expect this to be nearer £600 by the time we’ve finished collecting all the money in.
So on behalf of The Christie hospital, very many thanks to Dave and Robbie for their generous support.
Should anyone else wish to make a donation our JustGiving webpage will still accept donations until the end of the year. We've added another photo to the page showing us with our 2012 finishers medals.
Regards
Sean & Louise
