Hi All , Volvo diesel the water pump started leaking badly before it got off the lift. Got a replacement identical kit and everything good .So put in a claim for parts and labour.
Claim rejected, for using silicone sealer on water pump gasket as it contaminated the internal seal on the impeller. This is because brussels has decreed that seals previously used were no good for the environment and the new seals react with silicone.
And yes we did use silicone on replacement kit with no issues so far 3 months .and due to some scheme run by suppliers we did get paid.
PS Gates rep also says a flushing machine should allways be used......Just sayin
