Hi John We had a 300ZX with the same problem. As soon as the assesor saw the twisted conrods (siezed in the block) he recommended a new short motor from Nissan. Both turbo's were rebuilt, new alarm system (submerged in water). Luckily the ECU's worked even though they were submersed! Luckily everything else was ok, but the Aircon compressor was very noisey when the thing was reassembled and so we managed to get this replaced as well.
All in all just short of £10K....the customer had to pay a third because the engine had done nearly 100K miles, but all were happy in the end! Another customer's van just thrown number 4 big end bearing. On strip down no other damage was apparent, and warranty sent out an independent assesor. He confirmed our diagnosis, but warranty company (WHA) now say that they won't pay out as the engine must have been run short of oil at some time.....problem is this is a secondhand vehicle warranty so who know if this was the case.....customer not very happy and preparing to fight his corner...in the meantime we've just fitted a new engine. Hope you get it all sorted. Sean
