    Hi Steve

The case against the garage was proven as they had evidence that the vehicle had been in the workshop. The garage owner was just trying to cover his tracks

The garages downfall was because they could not prove that they had advised the owner not to use the vehicle as the rear brakes where in a dangerous condition (thats even if they bothered to check them)

Cash jobs with no documentation will always come back to haunt you as you dont have any proof of work carried out...your word against the customers, and in court the customer will always win

I would imagine the garage owner will also now be subject to the wrath of the inland revenue and vat inspectors to see how many more "cash jobs" have been carried out over the last few years

I think this case underpins the need for technician/garage licencing, rouge trading at its worst has now caused a death

    Peter
