Hi Peter,
In my view, 'our' trade organisations are in the vehicle manufacturers pocket.
Independent garages have more and more legislation to deal with. Most will try to do a decent job. Good garages retain cutomers because of their quality, not because of membership or qualifications. These just serve as a marketing tool.
'Our' trade organisations try to put more obstacles in our way to operate an honest and decent business. Manufacturers with their in-house training schemes (officially recognised) seem to be able to qualify monkeys! As for us, the quality of training for our apprentices at the various colleges is not very good to say the least!
Qualified? It has nothing to do with quality.
The proposed licensing will just make it easier for vehicle manufacturers and more difficult for independents.
I am qualified, but it not my qualifications that fix cars. It is the will to do a decent job that does that.
How come the building trade is not licensed?? I wonder which trade gets more complaints pro rata?
