    My comments were meant to be a bit tongue in cheek John (hence the smiley face ).....i know we have patrol lads on this site and i respect them as much as the next member

    The point i was trying to make was.....how could a company that is probably one of the biggest brand names in the country, attempt to run a good garage scheme when they have so many fingers in other pies, its hard to know what they are not involved in. Where would they get the man power and finance to run such a mammonth scheme. Probably by charging us independents the same amount as the RMI. The RMI already have the skills and manpower in place......seems strange to hand such a scheme to an outsider. Even the cost of their new SAT NAV systems has to be paid for by increasing your annual membership...owt for nowt as they say

    Other comments about the public not knowing who the RMI are, well that applies to other trades as well. If you call a plumber out you are asked to choose one that is CORGI registered, but you ask the customer what it actually stands for and what checks were done to achieve corgi registration and they would not have a clue. They just go on a recognised BRAND name which they are told to look out for.

    I actaully live next door to a Cogi registered plumber (which is handy) and we were discussing the new technology in boiler and heating systems and the checks he now has to pass to keep his Corgi Licence. If we could apply the same rules and regulation to our trade, we would be more than halfway to cleaning up our motor trade image

    If customers go to a members garages that have a Bosch or Unipart CCC sign, and the customer gets an excellent job done, and are treated well, then they will remeber that brand name because of the experience they have had. Their perception will be that other Bosch or Unipart Centres will treat them the same. Its sad to say but we do live in a BRAND name aware world.
