Hi Peter, I don't think rusty vehicles should necessarily be scrapped if they're repaired correctly, they can actually be stronger than new if done properly, but as you say who should do the welding and who should test it afterwards? I used to be an MOT tester a few years ago and I still can't understand why the spare wheel doesn't come into it, after all if you get a puncture you're going to put it on. I once had a car trader come in for an MOT on a Jag Mk 10 with bald tyres all round and told him politely to go away, to which he replied " I've got another set down the yard, I'll go and fit them, but after you've passed them I'll change them back again", needless to say we didn't do any more tests for him! But what is the situation there? Who knows what happens to a car once it leaves the test station all sorts of parts could be swapped over and who's that down to? Derek
