Hi guys this is the down side I had a 2.2 omega in the other day for a service and timing belt when i removed the belt i found that the inner guid on the water pump pulley had come off and was just sitt ing on the alluminium nose of the pump the owner was verry local so i called him in to take a peek he agreed that the pump had to be replaced, now if he had gone to the dealer this would have been coverd by warranty but as i had already stripped it out they did not want to know !(they olso said they didnot have a pump in stock !) I pressed on and fitted a pattern pump the customer had worked out for himself that the total cost of all the work was still less than the dealer price for the service + t. belt so he was happy BUT what if I were in a simmilar situation with much dearer components,??? Looking foreword to your views/expiriences,Jon.
