One of the provisions of Block Exemption regs is the supply of tech information (at a cost)from vehicle manufacturers to the aftermarket, This has already been working to our benefit with BMW and VW via their web sites. Yesterday, I had an interesting chat with a bod from BMW Bracknell who told me that they were going to offer Technical training to Independents such as us to comply with BE regs, this would be the same training as provided to the dealers.
However, training costs this year to Dealers of around £150 a day would be more than doubled to £300+ when they set this up, Dealers being rebated on some of their training costs and guess which group would not be rebated??.
There will undoubtedly be some benefit to Independents from BE but the above just goes to show that the Vehicle Manufacturer will try all ways to limit these benefits.
