PC networking at home or work Archived Message

Thought I'd set-up a PC network at home, partly to enable my offspring to share my Broadband line and avoid me having to kick them off on those (rare) occasions when I felt I needed to share my revelations with the Internet.

I decided on a wireless system and chose a Belkin54g Wireless Router.

    Then the fun started....

Over Christmas and New Year I replaced the stress of the workshop with that of setting-up the new computer system, and was it stressful.

I got the router configured (finally) and then its radio system packed-up for good. It was delivered back to PCWorld for a refund and they told me that 2 more of Belkin's finest had just been returned with the same faults.

I have done a lot of research on th WWW in the last few weeks and it seems to me that wireless networking is still in its infancy and is not very reliable yet.

Have any other Members explored this technology yet? What experiences have you had?

    Happy New Year to all,
    Steve
