I'd agree with Paul Howd about the security problems with wireless networks, a friend of mine makes his living out of sitting on trading estates/business parks, hacking into sensitive info, then visiting the company concerned & selling them thousands of pounds worth of wireless security products, he normally is able to see the Managing Director of even the biggest company in about 30 seconds, when he shows the Receptionist what sensitive info he looked at from their intranet. Plus as Paul rightly says, anyone can 'nick' your internet connection. I know cat cable is tedious & needs hiding, but I've put a socket in every room in my house so I can pluds PCs in virtuallyanywhere & you can't see any of my cables.
I would also advise against a router for your modem, useful for businesses, but for home I would use 'Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing', just enable this on your internet connected machine, then set up IE6 on the other machines to look for a LAN connection, hey presto all machines share the connection, but then if you want to limit your kids use of the 'net, you just 'turn it off' at your PC. Very useful as I have young kids who would be on the 'net all night if I didn't control it. Also consider all the nasty stuff on the 'net, depends on the age of your kids, but consider 'Net Nanny', 'Cybersitter' or one of the others. Additionally, you must have a firewall & decent anti virus software, particularly as you have broadband, otherwise anyone can 'come in the backdoor' to your computer & take (or leave) anything they want on your computer. MY FIREWALL PICKS UP ON AVERAGE TWO ATTEMPTS A DAY TO ACCESS MY PC.

Hope this info is of use to you.
