Hi John, Thanks for your post. I am amazed that so few people are interested in this problem. This specific problem WILL escalate into the scenario that in order to be able to work on a vehicle, you will need the vehicle's own access code to put it into 'service mode'. In order to get this, the car will have to be plugged into the manufacturer's mainframe. THIS IS REALITY!! Even an oil change will render a vehicle as a non start with the access code. Why do manufacturers in the USA not get away with this sort of nonsense? Because the independent motortrade voices it's opinions loudly. In the UK we just seem to accept whatever is thrown at us. If in a few years time when independent garages go bust because they can no longer repair cars, who will be to blame? Their own apathy in my opinion. Please, please, spend some time in ensuring your own trade will survive in the future. I'll get of my box now. regards, Job
