I some how doubt it. I forwarded on the question Job asked about block exemption as well as my own letter to the MVRA....Reply....Nothing. Not even an acknowledgement. The letter I sent is below

    Dear Sir /Madam

Below is a letter taken from UKautotalk about one of the many points of block exemption. My name is John Wallis from Western Way Garage www.western-way-garage.co.uk We are a member of the MVRA. I did contact you last year about servicing new vehicles and it's implications. It was then as it seems now a very grey area in as much the main dealers and manufacturers are not just taking this lying down. They appear by the letter below to be doing their own thing.

Can you clarify the position of block exemption to me. If possible I would like to post your reply on UKautotalk.

    Regards

    John Wallis

    Hi all,
I have just been told by Audi UK that dealers will not be able to give out key/immobiliser codes anymore. The vehicle will have to go to franchised dealer to be connected to Milton Keynes.

My understanding of the EU block exemption rulings makes me think this to be a blatant breach.

I have contacted my trade association (SMTA) about this. They said they will look into this. But I think it will take a lot of complaints before anything will be done about it.

So, if you're a member of a motortrade association, please complain loudly to them. At the moment it is just Audi and Volvo with VW, Seat and Skoda to be rolled out in the next few weeks. THIS WILL HURT THE INDEPENDENT!!!

    regards,

    Job
