    Hi Phil

I think the whole parts supply industry is in turmoil at the moment, factors, dealers, car makers chasing cheaper and cheaper suppliers to make a decent profit. Just because a parts box has a branded name on it, does not mean that company manufactured it, take wheel cylinders for instance, when was the last time you received one with the manufacturers name on it. I orderd a couple from a Ford main dealer yesterday and they came up in a tatty plastic bag, could have been manufactured by anyone, but cheaper than the factor. How long before China becomes a major player in the aftermarket, could be very worrying for branded suppliers. If China can manufacture DVD players and Tesco's can sell them for £29:99 and still make a profit, then why are we still paying big prices for many replacement electrical components. The west is openeing more and more stores in China, so how long before we see a Motor Factor supplying high quality cheap parts manufactured in China

But i dont think it stops with just parts Phil, staff is another issue, getting trained parts people is a problem, as well as delivery drivers. I am having big problems with deliveries at the moment, but when they pay their drivers less than £5:00 an hour what do they expect

    Peter

PS As you say Phil, dont mention the brand names
