John, I have heard similar stories from several customers. The dealerships seem to either be deliberately misleading customers, or genuinely do not know the rules on this. I suspect the former! Once the 'Head Office' is contacted, the truth comes out, as they don't want to be prosecuted by the European Commission. Incidentally, don't let them hoodwink you or your customer into believing that you have to fit genuine dealer parts, YOU DON'T. The Block Exemption rules clearly state that you may fit 'Matching Quality' parts at the service, this means that any reputable factor, using branded parts can supply you on this. Own brand & 'boxing company' parts may not comply with this standard, so watch out for those sorts of products. Regards, Rob Drinkwater. Business Development Manager. Camberley Auto Factors Limited.
