VDO Dayton MS5000 repairer Archived Message

Does anybody know or could anybody recommend a repairer for the above sat/nav system?
I stupidly left the ignition turned on on the car after i replaced the wing mirror broken by my wife driving through the lanes.I used my pretty low powered jump pack to start the car & then found that the sat/nav would not work anymore.I have tested the obvious & have contacted VDO Dayton & did as they suggested & also took it to our local VDO dealer who charged me £35 + vat to tell me that they think the VDO unit is faulty but it could be the screen & that whoever fitted it did a right bodge job & there were wires everywhere behind the screen.I wasn't very happy when my wife told me what they had said & also when i found that there is now a small hole appeared next to the screen where apparently they couldn't get the screws located where they were before in order to cover it up.When i took the car back to complain the technician wasn't there & i had to take it back again. When i did, he told me that my unit was now quite old & they didn't have any others to plug into my screen or a screen to plug into the unit.
Anyway if anybody could help, it would be appreciated.Sorry again for the long post.
    Regards ,Andrew
