    Hi Peter,

Once again interesting reading & a lot of garage bashing. I have shown below a copy of an e-mail that I have already sent to 'Which?', this seriously calls into question their findings, as they have obviously not been carried out by experts.

    "Dear Sir/Madam,

Why don't you get your facts right, on page 13 of the November issue of which, you clearly state the a garage 'recharged the air conditioning when it only needed topping up'. If you were any kind of expert in this field, or actually employed experts in this field, then you would know that you cannot 'top up' an air conditioning system. There is no dipstick on Air Con, therefore the only way to tell how much refrigerant gas is in an a/c system is to weigh it out, vacuum the system down, to remove all air & therefore moisture then to refill the system with the correct WEIGHT of refrigerant gas as well as adding a small amount of the lubricating oil, equivalent to that removed with the refrigerant. What this garage did was CORRECT, by your actions & statements in your magazine, you are clearly misleading the public, thus attempting to bring the motor industry into further disrepute, I suggest you get your facts correct & then issue a public apology to the garage concerned. It also makes me wonder what else you have mislead the public about in the so called investigation. I bet this never gets put on your website or published.

    Regards.

    Rob Drinkwater."

I'll let you know if I even get a reply.

    Regards Rob.
