I was reflecting just recently on how much easier it is to service current technology.
Oh, the joys of removing front grilles to access the distributors on Metros and Minis!
I have spent a good half hour in the past just fitting and setting an accurate gap on distributor points and that's without dropping a screw into the distributor and having to remove the whole thing to tip it out!
THEN you had to do a full tune-up and inevitably some would be running like a bag of P-- some days later because the points had bedded-in and needed resetting, free-of-charge naturally.
And then there were the ones that wouldn't run quite right and you had no fault codes or serial data to help you. Gas analysis was not a lot of help either - a bucket of CO or half-a-bucket?
