Yes I have recently had a problem with my chip and pin. I carried out a normal transaction, the customer did not know his pin so I followed the instructions on the the little plastic handout that came with the machine which said to SWIPE the card if pin not known. The transaction went through OK, printed out a receipt and gave auth: code. The ammount was then credited to my account but when I received my NEXT statement it had been debited FROM my account even though the Ammount had been taken FROM the customers account, ( I know, I saw his bank statement, thats what I call a good customer!!! ). The Merchant service had said the transaction was void because the correct proceedures were not carried out, even though he had paid out and I had been paid in. I EVENTUALLY got it sorted and figured out (I think) how to prevent the merchant service doing this to me again. ANY CARD THAT HAS A CHIP MUST GO INTO THE CHIP READER EVEN IF THE PIN IS NOT GOING TO BE USED. Hope this prevents someone from going through the terrible stress that I went through for about four days (including a weekend when I could not do anything about it)and yes it was a fairly large ammount.
    Colin
